Gangubai Kathiawadi is a biographical crime drama film, based on the life of the mafia queen. Alia Bhatt, starring in the titular role, has been receiving critical acclaim for her performance in the film. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie also stars Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa and Indira Tiwari. The story takes us through the life of young Ganga who in no time marks her own territory and becomes Gangubai – a madame in the red light area of Kamathipura. The film has been produced by Bhansali Productions and Pen India Limited.
