PeepingMoon Exclusive: Shah Rukh Khan's dates fixed for Rajkumar Hirani's film; shooting begins on April 15 in Mumbai

Shah Rukh Khan, who had taken a short break to resolve some personal issues last October, has finally returned to the sets after four months. The superstar resumed shooting for Atlee’s commercial entertainer with Nayanthara and Sanya Malhotra yesterday at Goregaon’s Film City Studios, where they will shoot some crucial action and dramatic sequences till February. He will then get back to finishing Siddharth Anand’s espionage actioner Pathan, which was deferred first after SRK’s son Aryan Khan was arrested in connection with a drugs-on-cruise case and later due to the rising number of Omicron cases in India. With King Khan back at work, we hear that his Rajkumar Hirani film will also begin production soon.

Peepingmoon.com has exclusively learned that Shah Rukh will start shooting for the highly-anticipated Rajkumar Hirani social comedy on April 15. The first brief schedule has been planned in Mumbai’s Film City Studios, where a huge set replicating a Punjab village is being recreated. The construction of the sets for the Punjab portions has already begun, and they will be ready by March 31st. The makers are also planning to shoot in Sarson ka khet (mustard farms) in Punjab in April or May, however, the shooting timelines for that haven't been locked yet. The yet-untitled film will apparently be shot majorly in Mumbai and the UK, apart from a 10-day schedule planned in Budapest later this year.

We have also learned that the SRK-Hirani film will have many popular actors playing small character roles as the story of the film travels across timelines and geography. Taapsee Pannu has been confirmed to play the leading lady, while Boman Irani will also play a pivotal role. The makers are in talks with Vicky Kaushal and Jim Sarbh for cameo roles. However, they haven’t been signed yet. The film is based on the issue of "donkey flight" and sees SRK playing a Punjabi guy who takes the illegal backdoor route to immigrate to Canada in search of a better life.

Shah Rukh Khan has apparently allotted over 100 days for Hirani’s film and will shoot for it till October 2022. He will also shoot for Atlee’s robbery drama between the schedule breaks of Hirani’s film. His YRF thriller, Pathan, meanwhile, is nearing completion and will be wrapped up by March 3rd week, after its last schedule in Spain. SRK, Deepika Padukone, and John Abrahm are expected to film some high-octane action scenes and major confrontational sequences in this 17-day stint, besides also shooting a romantic song in Mallorca.
