The Kashmir Files trailer: Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty demand justice for the misplaced Kashmiri Pandits in Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s eye-opening film

The trailer of Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s directorial The Kashmir Files dropped today. The film promises to tell the brutally honest story of the Kashmir Genocide in which thousands of Kashmiri Pandits were killed, persecuted and rendered homeless when they were forced to leave their homeland in a macabre night in 1990. Agnihotri brings Kashmiri Pandits ordeal to life on the big screen in The Kashmir Files.

The Kashmir Files boasts of an impressive cast including National award winners Pallavi Joshi, Prakash Belavadi, Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty and other acclaimed names like Darshan Kumar, Bhasha Sumbali, Chinmay Mandlekar, Puneet Issar, Mrinal Kulkarni, Atul Srivastava and Prithviraj Sarnaik.

In the gripping trailer, Mithun says, “Kashmir jal raha hai,” while Anupam says, “Aazadi is a song of terrorism.” There’s bloodshed, gore, cruelty, glimpses of rape and torture between threats and slogan of freedom that forced Kashmiri Pandits to flee from their homes and live like refugees in their own country. The trailer demands justice for the state’s brutal and bloody past.

The Kashmir Files depicts horrors of genocide that is a part of our own history, albeit a dark and murky chapter that should never be forgotten and must be righted. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, The Kashmir Files is bankrolled by Tej Narayan Agarwal, Abhishek Agarwal, Pallavi Joshi and Vivek Agnihotri under the Zee Studios, IAmBuddha and Abhishek Agarwal Arts banners. The Kashmir Files is slated to hit theatres on March 11.
