‘The third wave wasn’t anticipated, it threw a few things off course,’ says Deepika Padukone revealing ‘The Intern’ remake to be back on track

Deepika Padukone is currently riding high on the success of her latest release Gehraiyaan. However, the actress is not wasting time on the laurels coming her way but gearing up for her new projects. In the interesting line-up of films that she has in her kitty, the Hindi remake of The Intern is also one of them. The actress will reunite with Amitabh Bachchan for the film that originally starred Anne Hathaway and Robet De Niro. The film was initially scheduled to go on floors last year but was put on hold, now Deepika has shared an updated on the film’s progress.

According to a media report the film will soon enter the production stage in 2022 or early 2023. Deepika told a leading tabloid that how things got messed up because of the Covid-19 third wave and said, “The Intern will happen this year, or early 2023. The third wave wasn’t anticipated, so it threw a few things off course. But now, (we are) back on track.”

The Intern will mark Deepika’s and Amitabh’s third collaboration after Aarakshan and Piku. However, Big B wasn’t the first choice for the remake. Rishi Kapoor was roped in to play the lead in The Intern, but due to his demise in 2020, the makers got Big B onboard.

On the work front, Deepika has Pathan opposite Shah Rukh Khan and John Abraham. She will also be seen sharing screen space with Hrithik Roshan in Fighter, her mythological picture based on Draupadi with Madhu Mantena and Project K with Prabhas.
