Punjabi actor turned activist, Deep Sidhu, passed away in a road accident on Tuesday that happened on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway that bypasses Delhi. As per reports, Deep was travelling from Delhi to Bhatinda when his SUV rammed a trailer truck at 9:30 pm.
The actor turned activist was with his girlfriend Reena Rai. They were rushed to a hospital but he was declared brought dead and Reena survived the accident and is said to be out of danger. Deep and Reena celebrated Valentine's Day together and the latter shared a mirror selfie on her Instagram stories.
In January 2021, Deep was arrested by Punjab Police for his alleged involvement in the Republic Day tractor rally in Delhi which had turned violent and left many injured. In April, he was granted bail but soon after, he was arrested again for allegedly damaging public property during the farmers' tractor rally violence. He was released in a few days.
