Lata Mangeshkar Funeral: BJP leader draws flak for wrongly claiming Shah Rukh Khan 'spat' on singer's mortal remains; netizens say 'this is real India' as superstar reads dua

India's nightingale, Lata Mangeshkar, was laid to rest by her family members, friends, film fraternity and millions of fans on Sunday evening at Mumbai's Shivaji Park. Dignitaries like Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray were present at the funeral to pay their last respects to the legendary singer. Celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ranbir Kapoor and Vidya Balan were also in attendance.

Shah Rukh, while paying tribute to Lata Didi, recited a dua. Soon after, he touched the singer's feet. A video of Shah Rukh paying his last respects to Lata Didi is going viral. While netizens showered love on Shah Rukh for his gesture, Arun Yadav, who describes himself as the State In-Charge of BJP's IT cell in Haryana on Twitter, drew flak for asking whether the superstar spat on Lata Didi's mortal remains.

Netizens, calling Shah Rukh a gem, slammed Yadav for 'spitting venom'. A user wrote, "Its blowing after making prayers & is a gesture of passing blessings for the salvation of the departed soul, as per Muslim rituals. But going by the amount of hate content u put up & never miss out on promoting enmity, "

A picture of Shah Rukh and his manager Pooja Dadlani offering prayers went viral and netizens are lauding them for their contribution towards a secular India. One user wrote, "BEST PICTURE ON INTERNET TODAY, unfortunately at sad & heartbreaking atmosphere. But this is my INDIA"
