Deepika Padukone shares her COVID recovery journey, says 'I was unrecognizable completely due to medication & steroids that I was put on'

Deepika Padukone, who took all possible measures to keep COVID-19 at bay, had contracted the novel coronavirus in 2021. Though the actress refrained from talking about it back then, she opened up about her recovery during a recent interview with an entertainment portal. Deepika said that post-COVID, life changed for her and she was 'unrecognizable' due to the medication.

"Lockdown two was also very different because everyone in my family, including me, had COVID at the same time. Life after COVID changed for me because physically, I was unrecognizable completely... I think (due to) the medication I was given, the steroids that I was put on. So COVID in itself was weird, your body feels different, your mind feels different," Deepika shared.

She further added that she took a break of two months from work to feel better. "I felt that when I had the illness it was still okay but after that, I needed to take two months off work because my mind wasn't working. The phase for me was very, very difficult," Deepika added.

In 2021, Deepika and her husband, actor Ranveer Singh paid a visit to the former's parents in Bengaluru. During her trip to her hometown in May, the actress along with her father Prakash Padukone, mother Ujjala Padukone and sister Anisha Padukone contracted the virus. Reportedly, Mr Padukone had to be admitted to a hospital.
