Veteran actor Sridevi was India’s first female superstar and had legions of fans. Her tragic and untimely demise left a deep void not only in the hearts of her family, friends and fans but also Hindi film actors and actresses who took her as their inspiration. Now, netizens have discovered online her doppelganger Dipali Choudhary. Dipali calls herself a ‘Haryanvi actress’ and has over 33.4k followers on Instagram. She has taken internet’s fancy by posting several video clips of herself lip-syncing to Sridevi’s lines and songs from her iconic films. Her resemblance to the late actress is uncanny and netiznes dropped compliments on her looks and acting abilities.
In one of the videos, Dipali recreated one of Sridevi’s famous scene from Laadla (1994). She also enacted lines from Sadma (1983), Nagina (1986, Judaai (1997) and several others. She also copied Sridevi’s steps in several songs including her iconic number Tere Mere Hothon Pe from Chandni (1989).
Reacting to her videos, fans lauded her for her acting and wrote, “Kudrat ka karishma (Nature's wonder)." Another wrote, “Wow same Sridevi ki acting kiye ho, very nice (same acting like that of Sridevi)”, while another wrote, “Kya acting ki hai (what acting).” Another person complimented, "Sridevi ki copy lag rahe ho aap (You're looking like Sridevi's copy)”. Another wrote, “Aisa laga Judaai movie dekh rahi hu .... baad m yaad aaya arre baap re ye toh Dipali ji ki reel hai (At first I thought I'm watching Judaai... later I realised I'm watching Dipali's reel).” A person also said, "Same to same Sridevi maam jaise lagre ho aap (Looking same as Sridevi)."
Sridevi is survived by her husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.
