‘They did not pay for my wedding, they did not pay for the hotel bills,’ says Nusrat Jahan on her marriage controversy being politicized

Actress and Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan has spoken to an online portal over the controversy surrounding her marital status and the questions raised over her personal life. She said that she had clarified her stance on the status of her marriage in the Parliament. Nusrat had married businessman Nikhil Jain in Turkey on June 19, 2019 but separated since November 2020 and later issued a statement saying that their marriage was not legal in India as they were married according to Turkish law.

Now, Nusrat spoke to an online portal about the controversy surrounding her marriage and said, “They did not pay for my wedding, they did not pay for the hotel bills. I don't have to say anything to them. I am honest. I was wrongly portrayed, and now I have clarified it.” She refrained from taking any names but said that it is easy to blame others or show others in bad light. Nusrat claimed that she did not pull anyone down.
