In June, Alia Bhatt wrapped up shooting for filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's upcoming directorial Gangubai Kathiawadi. Three months later, the makers of the film have announced the new release date.
Alia's Gangubai Kathiawadi is all set to release on January 6, 2022. Gangubai Kathiawadi, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, stars Alia, Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari among others. The film is based on Gangubai, a brothel madam from Mumbai's red-light area Kamathipura.
Gangubai Kathiawadi is inspired by the life of Gangubai Kothewali, the madam of a brothel in Mumbai's Kamathipura, and is based on a chapter of Hussain Zaidi's book Mafia Queens Of Mumbai.
Talking about her upcoming slate of work, Alia has Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR and Brahmastra. She turned producer with her film Darlings and will also be seen in Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani.
