Akshay Kumar talks about 'BellBottom' success, says 'appreciation the film got made all the efforts worthwhile'

Akshay Kumar impressed one and all with his role of BellBottom in Ranjit M Tewari's espionage-thriller that released in August. BellBottom was the first film to hit the theatres after the COVID-19 second wave unlock phase. Ironically, it was also the first film to be wrapped amid the COVID-19 pandemic in the entire world last year. Despite the theatres being shut in some parts of the county and the occupancy not being 100%, BellBottom has managed to do decent business before premiering on Amazon Prime Video last week.

Talking about the same, Akshay said that the appreciation the film was getting made all the efforts worthwhile. As the theatres were not open everywhere and there was 50% occupancy rule, the actor was disheartened a little bit but he believed that every film has its own destiny. He further said that BellBottom earned a lot of love and respect from the audiences as well as the industry for fronting the return of cinemas.

Directed by Ranjit M Tewari, BellBottom is an espionage thriller set in 1984. It takes us through a heinous Indian airplane hijack and how BellBottom, a RAW agent played by Akshay Kumar, saw through the plan and thus began India’s first covert operation. The film also has an incredible cast including Lara Dutta, Vaani Kapoor, Huma Qureshi and Adil Hussain.

The film released in cinemas on August 19 and garnered appreciation from critics and audiences, likewise.
