August is coming to an end and we are just 4 months away from 2022. The year has been eventful in many ways. The world, in the last few years, has come together on virtual platforms, like Twitter, Instagram, etc. to keep themselves updated. From sharing news to cheering for their favourite celebrities, people have made the most of social media, especially Twitter. Each year on August 23, the world celebrates Hashtag Day. Reportedly, on this day in 2007, hashtags were born.

On the occasion of Hashtag Day, Twitter India released the list of the most tweeted hashtags in India in the first half of 2021. Surprisingly, hashtags of South films made up 6 out of 10 of the most-tweeted hashtags in the country so far. Between January 1 to June 30, hashtag #valimai was the most-tweeted one. One of the most anticipated films, Valimai stars Ajith Kumar, Huma Qureshi, Pearle Maaney, and Kartikeya Gummakonda.

Valimai actor Ajith Kumar's hashtag was the fourth most popular one. Yet another hashtag related to Vijay, that is #thalapathy65, was popular. The title of the film is Beast.

Television's popular actress and winner of Bigg Boss 14, Rubina Dilaik, proved to be Twitter's darling as her hashtag found a place in the list. The iHeartRadio Music Awards, Pawan Kalyan's Vakeel Saab, South Korean boy band BTS and COVID-19 made for the rest of the list.
