Rakhi Sawant recalls her Main Hoon Na audition story, reveals how she hid her glamourous clothes from chawl neighbours

Rakhi Sawant is a known face in the entertainment industry now. From dance numbers to reality shows, she has been a part of the fraternity since 1997. One of her most popular films was Main Hoon Na starring Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Amrita Rao, Zayed Khan, Boman Irani and others. The film marked Farah Khan's directorial debut and released in 2003. Recently, Rakhi appeared as a guest on a comedy show and thanked judge-filmmaker Farah for giving her the opportunity.

She recalled the day when she got a call from Farah's office for an audition. "I used to give my best and to look slim and fit, I used to have only one bowl of dal every day. However, things weren't looking so great. But one fine day, I got a call from Farah Khan Madam's office, and they called me for an audition at Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies' office and things changed from there. As soon as I kept the phone, I lost consciousness. My mother gave me another bowl of dal and that's when I got into my senses and started preparing for my audition," Rakhi told.

She further revealed, "I was told that I would have to look glamorous as the character was such. But in the chawl that I was staying at, you couldn't step out in such clothes. So, I asked my mother what should I do? She gave me a set of curtains, which I wrapped around my glamorous clothes and went for the audition."

In Main Hoon Na, Rakhi played the role of Mini, a dumb yet glamourous college girl. Zayed Khan's Lucky or Laxman found her attractive before realising his love for his best friend Sanjana a.k.a Sanju played by Amrita Rao.
