Tara was written for you: Farhan Akhtar reveals he would have scrapped Dil Chahta Hai if Dimple Kapadia had rejected it

On August 10, 2001, Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut and told an unforgettable story of three friends Akash, Sid and Sameer. The film titled Dil Chahta Hai starred Aamir Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Preity Zinta and Sonali Kulkarni. On Tuesday, Dil Chahta Hai completed 20 years and Farhan expressed gratitude on social media.  

Thanking Dimple for saying yes to play the role of Tara, Farhan shared an interesting anecdote. He revealed that there would have been no Dil Chahta Hai without Dimple. "I think if you had said no, I’d probably have had to scrap making the film. Tara was written for you and thank my lucky stars that you said yes. Forever grateful," he wrote.

The filmmaker penned a note for Aamir, Akshaye and Saif. He wrote, "Ya toh dosti gehri thi ya ye photo 3D thi.. thank you Aamir, Saif & Akshaye for your belief in the script, in a first time writer/director & for bringing Akash, Sameer & Sid to life in your own uniquely amazing way. Love you guys. "

Showering love on Preity and Sonali, Farhan thanked them for being a part of the cast. 

On Dil Chahta Hai's 20th anniversary, Farhan announced his return as a director. He made the announcement that Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif will be starring in a road trip film titled Jee Le Zaraa. It will go on floors next year.
