'Rhea Kapoor and I were bullied by some of the men in the industry while making Aisha,' says Sonam Kapoor Ahuja as the film completes 11 years

Sonam Kapoor Ahuja's film Aisha completed 11 years on August 6. Directed by Rajshree Ojha, the film also starred Abhay Deol, Amrita Puri, Ira Dubey, Cyrus Sahukar, Arunoday Singh and Lisa Haydon. Aisha was produced by Sonam's sister Rhea Kapoor. Though the comedy-drama opened to mixed reviews, it established Sonam as Bollywood's ultimate fashionista for dressing up like a dream in trendy designer outfits. However, making Aisha wasn't easy for Sonam and Rhea.

According to a news portal, Sonam and Rhea held a session on Clubhouse to mark 11 years of Aisha. During the session, Sonam opened up about the struggles they had to face while making Aisha. "As women, we don’t realise that there is more power in numbers. The way my sister (Rhea) and I were bullied through the process of making the film by some of the men in the industry made us realise when there are more of you together, it’s easier to stand up to things and give each other strength. So that is the one thing that was a takeaway from Aisha that I always knew my sister was my best friend," Sonam revealed.

Rhea, a well-known producer and stylist, added, "There was a time when people laughed and mocked us after the film’s release. I remember this incident, where we were at a party, and an emerging director then, who is well established now looked at Sonam’s outfit and said, ‘Where is Sonam Kapoor going in this outfit?'"

Aisha was the adaptation of Jane Austen's 1815 novel Emma
