Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday's Liger offered Rs. 200 crore OTT deal? Former dismisses rumour saying 'too little'

Vijay Deverakonda will be seen packing some punches with Ananya Panday in his Bollywood debut, Liger. Directed by Puri Jagannadh, the pan-India film is expected to release in theatres across the globe on September 9 this year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, everything has been put on hold. Amid this, rumours were rife that Liger will be skipping a theatrical release. Reports claimed that the film has been offered a Rs. 200 crore OTT deal.

Putting all rumours to rest, Vijay clarified that Liger will only release in theatres and a 'Rs. 200 crore deal' is 'too little'. Showing confidence that the film will do better in theatres, Vijay tweeted, "Too little. I’ll do more in the theaters." Fans were impressed with his confidence and said, "Remember his confidence at the time of arjun reddy And you know what arjun reddy did." Another fan added, "Will make Minimum 2000cr in theaters...(including all languages collection)"

The teaser of Liger was ready to be released on Vijay's birthday that is May 9. However, the makers decided to postpone it considering the ongoing pandemic situation. They tweeted, "In light of the current environment and the testing times our country is facing, our focus is solely on helping the community. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the release of the teaser of #LIGER. We hope you’re staying safe, staying healthy and staying home."

Liger also stars Ramya Krishnan, Ronit Roy, Vishu Reddy, Aali and Getup Srinu. The film will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. The film is jointly produced by Puri Jagannadh, Karan Johar and Charmme Kaur.
