‘Murder’ dialogue writer Subodh Chopra breathes his last at 49, suffers a cardiac arrest after recovering from COVID-19

Subodh Chopra, the dialogue writer of Emraan Hashmi and Mallika Sherawat starrer Murder and Irrfan’s Rog passed away today at 11.30 am. He was 49 years old and had recovered from COVID-19. However, his health took a turn for the worse on Monday, May 10 and he passed away after a cardiac arrest.

Subodh’s younger brother Shanky confirmed the news to an online portal and said, “He had tested negative last week on Saturday, but his condition took a turn for the worse on Monday (May 10). His oxygen levels suddenly dropped and I made arrangements for a cylinder at home. He was feeling very exhausted and his blood pressure had risen as well. This morning, his condition deteriorated further, and I admitted him to the Lifeline Hospital in Malad. However, he passed away after a cardiac arrest. These were all complications that came after he got COVID-free."

Shanky further said that Subodh wanted to direct a Hindi film and had directed a Malayalam film. He said, “He had directed a Malyalam film Vasudha and he was extremely talented."

Subodh was active in the industry since 1997 and had debuted as screen and dialogue writer for Shekhar Suman’s teleserial Reporter. He had also written dialogues for Nazar (2005), Dobara (2004)’s screenplay and Tumsa Nahi Dekha’s story. He had also directed teleserial Haqeeqat’s one episode and Rishtey’s 6 episodes and had directed several episodes of Saavdhan India. Subodh had written and directed a documentary as well titled Immortals of Kargil.
