In Memoriam: Oscars 2021 pays tribute to Irrfan, Bhanu Athaiya, Rishi Kapoor & Sushant Singh Rajput

The 93rd Academy Awards took place on Sunday in Los Angeles after a two months delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony awarded the best film, filmmakers, actors and technical departments. Like every year, The Academy Awards’ In Memoriam segment paid tributes to filmmakers and artists who left for their heavenly abode in 2020. 

In the segment, The Academy Awards remembered notable deceased celebrities like Ian Holm, Sean Connery Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, Chadwick Boseman and others. India's Bhanu Athaiya and Irrfan were also remembered. Cicely Tyson, Cloris Leachman, Yaphet Kotto, Joel Schumacher, Bertrand Tavernier, Jean-Claude Carrière, Olivia de Havilland, Paula Kelly, George Seagal were also among those who passed away.

Though veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput were missing from the In Memoriam segment, they were remembered on the Academy Awards website.
