Gautam Gambhir calls Akshay Kumar a 'ray of hope' as he donates Rs 1 crore to his foundation to help COVID-19 victims

The second wave of COVID-19 has affected many lives. The country is in a grim situation as patients of the novel Coronavirus aren't able to find hospital beds, oxygen cylinders, ventilators and even essential medicines. Amid this, Akshay Kumar has jumped to the rescue. The Bollywood superstar has donated Rs. 1 crore to Gautam Gambhir Foundation to help those in need. 

Former Indian team player and current member of the Lok Sabha, Gautam Gambhir shared the news on Twitter and called Akshay a 'ray of hope'. "Every help in this gloom comes as a ray of hope. Thanks a lot @akshaykumar for committing Rs 1 crore to #GGF for food, meds and oxygen for the needy! God bless," he tweeted.

Reacting to Gautam's tweet, Akshay replied, "These are really tough times, @GautamGambhir. Glad I could help. Wish we all get out of this crisis soon. Stay Safe."

Soon after Akshay replied, fans of the superstar called him 'Bharat Ka Veer'. They further lauded Akshay for stepping ahead to help people in need. Addressing him as the real hero of India, fans thanked him for the help. 

Akshay, who was shooting for Ram Setu with Jacqueline Fernandez and Nushrratt Bharuccha, had tested positive for COVID-19. Now, he has recovered but yet to resume work.
