'Mahabharata' fame Punjabi-Hindi film actor Satish Kaul succumbs to COVID-19 in Ludhiana

Hindi and Punjabi actor Satish Kaul breathes his last in Ludhiyana due to COVID19. The actor is best known for his role of Lord Indra in BR Chopra's Mahabharata

Ashoke Pandit, president of IFTDA, informed about the sad demise of Satish on Twitter. He shared, "Sad to know about the demise of well known actor of Hindi & Punjabi films Satish Kaul in #Ludhiyana due to #COVID19 . He was unwell since a long time . Heartfelt condolences to his family & near ones . !"

Satish Kaushik is known for his contribution to both Punjabi and Hindi cinema. He has acted in over 300 Hindi and Punjabi films and has worked with Bollywood actors such as Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar and Shahrukh Khan amongst others. His notable film roles include ones in Sassi Punnu, Ishq Nimana, Suhag Chooda and Patola.

Satish Kaul won the "lifetime achievement" award for his contribution to Punjabi cinema at PTC Punjabi Film Awards in 2011. He was regarded as one of the most successful regional film actors of all time. Some people also refered to him as the "Amitabh Bachchan of Punjabi cinema".
