Amitabh Bachchan has decided that the film will release only in theatres, don't want to rush into it: Chehre director Rumi Jaffery

Anand Pandit’s Chehre, directed by Rumy Jafry, has managed to create buzz ever since its announcement. Ever since the makers released the posters, teasers and the trailer, the anticipation to watch the ensemble cast on the big screens, for the first time, has been building day by day. However, considering the situation the nation is going through and keeping the safety of fans in mind amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Anand Pandit Motion Pictures decided to postpone the release of their much-anticipated film Chehre. The film stars Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles.

About the move, Chehre director Rumi Jaffery told a leading daily, “Safety comes first. So in times like these where malls and cinema halls are going to shut early what’s the point in releasing the film? There are many states that are introducing night curfew in that case the last show will be at 4 pm.”

Talking about the amazing response, he added, “The team has got phenomenal response to both teaser and the trailer. People have also told me such good things about Mr Bachchan’s appearance on screen. We have made such a good film, so it is necessary we be a little patient. Having said that it is going to be the producer’s call completely, but yes we including Mr Bachchan decided ki film release hogi toh theatre mein hi hogi. It will definitely have a theatrical release,” he says.

So while the team isn’t looking at OTT as an option, have they come up with another date for the release. “Well, not yet it. It will be too early to say anything,” he signs off.

The mystery-thriller was all set to release on April 9, 2021. However, the film is now pushed ahead and the new release date will be announced soon.
