Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi not to hit theatres on April 30 amid rising Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra

The second wave of Coronavirus has once again started to wreak havoc across the country. After a slew of scheduled theatrical releases now the filmmakers are forced to postpone the release of their films. The latest to postpone the release is Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi.

Akshay’s film, directed by Rohit Shetty was scheduled to release on April 30. However, with the rising COVID-19 cases in the state and the partial lockdown imposed by the government the makers have now delayed releasing the film in theatres.

Team Sooryavanshi issued a statement that read, “The Honorable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Mr. Uddhav Thackeray had a discussion with director Rohit Shetty yesterday. In the meeting, Mr. Uddhav Thackeray appreciated Rohit Shetty as he took the brave and difficult decision of postponing Sooryavanshi owing to the current COVID situation in the state.”

Sooryavanshi also stars Katrina Kaif in the lead and has Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh in a special cameo appearances.
