US Navy band sings Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera from Swades in viral video, Shah Rukh Khan gets nostalgic; Ashutosh Gowariker reacts

Shah Rukh Khan and Gayatri Joshi's Swades is an iconic film for many reasons. The Ashutosh Gowariker directorial touched hearts of people across the globe with its sensitive approach to problems at the grassroots level. Not just Indians and NRIs, people across the world resonated with Swades. Recently, a video of the US Navy band singing Yeh Jo Des Hai Tera went viral on social media. It was originally shared as a tribute to US Chief of Naval Operations and Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Ambassador of India to the United States. 

Mr. Sandhu retweeted the video and wrote, "Thank you @usnavyband for a superb performance. #HappyHoli Let the colours & music brighten our lives!" Soon after the retweet, Shah Rukh, who played the role of a NASA scientist named Mohan Bhargav, showered love and admiration on the US Navy band.

The superstar wrote, "Thank u for sharing this sir. How lovely. Git all nostalgic about the time spent making this beautiful film and belief sung in the song. Thanx @AshGowariker @RonnieScrewvala @arrahman & everyone who made it possible."

Ashutosh, who directed Swades, said, "Unique rendering of the song by the US Navy! And the emotion is the same!! AMAZING!! Thank you, Ambassador @SandhuTaranjitS Sir… for sharing! This would not have been possible without - @RonnieScrewvala @iamsrk @arrahman @Javedakhtarjadu and the entire team !!"

Swades also starred Kishori Ballal, Daya Shankar Pandey, Rajesh Vivek and Makarand Deshpande. The film released in 2004 and was produced by Ashutosh and distributed by UTV Motion Pictures.
