Asha Bhosle conferred with Maharashtra Bhushan Award, celebrates win with granddaughter Zanai Bhosle

It is a big day for veteran singer Asha Bhosle. The multi-lingual playback singer has been selected for the prestigious Maharashtra Bhushan-2020 honour. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, made the announcement on Thursday after a meeting of the Maharashtra Bhushan Award's selection committee. Presided over by Mr. Thackeray, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Cultural Affairs Minister Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh, Minister of State Rajendra Patil-Yadravkar and other top officials were present.

The veteran singer, on her Instagram, shared a picture and thanked the Maharashtra Bhushan Award's selection committee and her fans for the honour. "My heart felt gratitude to the people of Maharashtra for conferring upon me the highest level of honour the state can award to an individual - the Maharashtra Bhushan Award. Eternally grateful  Jai hind. The legendary singer also shared a video on Instagram in which she was seen celebrating with her granddaughter Zanai Bhonsle, who ordered a cake and lots of sweets. Zanai, in Hindi, asked, "Asha aai, the government has given you the Maharashtra Bhushan Award,' how are you feeling?" The singer replied, "I am extremely delighted. I have received many awards but this is special since it is from my 'maayka'. I am very much thankful to the Maharashtra government for this award.
