Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan shared the screen space in Gauri Shinde's Dear Zindagi (2016). Five years later, they are reuniting. Not as actors, but producers. Alia, today, launched her own production house, Eternal Sunshine. Soon after, she announced her first-ever film under her banner. Titled Darlings, the dark comedy will also be produced by Shah Rukh's company, Red Chillies Entertainment.
Alia, on social media, shared a teaser of Darlings and unveiled its title logo. "This one's special! ♥ Announcing #Darlings, my first ever production under @eternalsunshineproduction, in association with my fav @iamsrk’s @redchilliesent! Starring the amazing @shefalishahofficial, @itsvijayvarma, @roshan.matthew Directed by @jasmeet_k_reen & produced by @gaurikhan, @_gauravverma," she wrote.

PeepingMoon.com, on September 21, 2020, exclusively informed its readers that Shah Rukh has roped in Alia and Vijay for Darlings under his banner Red Chillies Entertainment. Later, on October 26, 2020, it was revealed that Shefali will play the role of Alia's mother in the film.
Darlings marks the directorial debut of Jasmeet K Reen, who has worked as an Associate Director and Chief Assistant director on multiple films and previously written films like Force 2, Fanney Khan and Pati Patni Aur Woh.
Talking about the film, Alia said, "I am really excited to be part of Darlings; it's a powerful story with a lot of humour and doses of dark comedy. I am thrilled to have Darlings as my first film as a producer, that too in collaboration with my favourite, Shah Rukh Khan and Red Chillies."
Gaurav Verma, Producer & COO on Red Chillies Entertainment’s next venture, shared, "Our endeavour has always been to collaborate with fresh talent and nurture their perspective and Darlings is a move forward in that direction. Jasmeet is a talented Writer-Director and Darlings is her very entertaining take on life. We have a fabulous cast in Shefali, Vijay & Roshan, and a wonderful partner in Alia as actor-producer. It’s a great story and we are eager to bring it to the viewers."
Written by Parveez Sheikh & Jasmeet, Darlings is being produced by Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt and Gaurav Verma. It is a Red Chillies Entertainment and Eternal Sunshine presentation of a Red Chillies Entertainment production, the film goes on floors this month.
