Sanjay Leela Bhansali to revive Inshallah with Alia Bhatt; not Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan to play the lead?

In September 2019, Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced that his ambitious project, Inshallah, has been scrapped. The film would have been Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt's first big-screen project together. The news came across as a big shock to fans. However, days later, he announced Gangubai Kathiawadi with Alia. Now, nearly one and a half years later, rumour has it that Bhansali is planning to revive Inshallah

A source close to the filmmaker told an entertainment portal that he wants to revisit Inshallah with Alia and a new leading man. "It is a beautiful simple timeless love story. Sanjay still wants to make it with Alia and a different leading man," the source told.

Reportedly, the hero required for the role must be above 50. The report mentioned that Shah Rukh Khan is the obvious choice. The source added, "But Shah Rukh Khan has already done a film – Gauri Shinde’s Dear Zindagi — with Alia. So the novelty of seeing the two generation-challenged superstars exchanging emotions is gone. But who knows! It may be SRK only.  The important thing is to make Inshallah exactly the way SLB had envisaged it. And he will."
