The release date of Mahesh Babu baked Major has finally been unveiled by the makers. Titled Major, the film is based on the life of 26/11 Mumbai attacks martyr Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan. Major features Adivi Sesh in the titular role. The film is all set to release on July 2, 2021.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news on Instagram as he shared the poster of the film and wrote, "#MAJOR: 2 JULY 2021 CONFIRMED... #Hindi - #Telugu bilingual #Major - starring #AdiviSesh as Major #SandeepUnnikrishnan - to release on 2 July 2021... Adivi uploaded the same poster to confirm the new and wrote, "The power of courage. #MajorTheFilm reporting for duty on 2 July, 2021 WORLDWIDE #MajorOnJuly2"
Opening up about an emotional experience with Sandeep Unnikrishnan's mother, Adivi Sesh had earlier recalled, "We had already said our byes to uncle and aunty and were standing near the lift and dur se aunty ne mujhe dekha and she said 'Idhar aao' in heavily accented hindi, so I went to her and she looked me in the eye and she said 'durse bilkul mera beta lag raha hai.' She had a tear in her eye when she said that. I think that is the moment I knew, that I had their permission to tell a story inspired by their son's life."
Directed by Sashi Kiran Tikka, Major has been shot in Hindi and Telugu. It also stars Sobhita Dhulipala, Saiee Manjrekar, Prakash Raj, Revathi and Murali Sharma. Produced by Sony Pictures Films India in association with Mahesh Babu's GMB Entertainment and A+S Movies, the film will now hit the screens on July 2, 2021.
