On Gandhi Jayanti 2020, Karan Johar joins hands with several filmmakers to 'create inspiring content' with 'Change Within' initiative

On the occasion Gandhi Jayanti, Karan Johar made a special announcement. The filmamker took to social media to release a statement regarding his association with the initiative 'Change Within' along with other filmmakers from Bollywood like Aanand L Rai, Ekta Kapoor, Rohit Shetty, Rajkumar Hirani, Dinesh Vijan and Sajid Nadiadwala. Tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi, KJo mentioned that he along with other filmmakers of the industry would like to put forth a plan to celebrate the 75th year of Independence of India with stories that celebrate the spirit of freedom as well as the values of the nation. 

Karan first tweeted, "On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti #gandhijayanti #gandhi150 the Creative Fraternity comes together to create inspiring content!" 

He then wrote, "Honourable PM @narendramodi ji...we are humbled & honoured to curate stories of our great nation whilst we celebrate 75 years of India’s independence @RajkumarHirani @aanandlrai @ektarkapoor #SajidNadiadwala #RohitShetty #DineshVijan #ChangeWithin #IndianFilmFraternity @PMOIndia."

Along with his second tweet, the filmmaker also shared a statement that read, "Celebrating 75 years of Independence by joining hands with 'Change Within', an initiative by film fraternity, to make inspiring content about valour and the culture of India. It is our stories that make us who we are, and every corner of our country has been an empowering tale to tell." 

The statement further read, "Last year we made a special film on the 150th birth year of Mahatma Gandhi, directed by Rajkumar Hirano. Followed by various meaningful initiatives, we have come together to celebrate the spirit of the freedom movement. As we embark on this journey, it witnesses a fresh beginning of the grand ear of story telling to cherish the soul of the idea called 'India'." 

"Drawing inspiration from our Honorable Prime Minister from whom we also seek sustained guidance, we the members of film fraternity are privileged to announce our plan to celebrate the 75th year of Independence. Many more creative contributors will be joining us in the times to come. Watch this space for more," the statement concluded.
