Bach ke rehna: Nusrat Jahan receives death threats for dressing up like Maa Durga for a shoot, seeks security in London

Bengali actress and Trinamool Congress MP Nusrat Jahan, who is currently in London shooting for a Bengali film, has caught herself amid death threats. The actress has sought additional security cover saying she received death threats on social media for posting a video in which she was featured as Goddess Durga.

On September 17, Nusrat posted on Instagram photos and videos in which she was dressed like Hindu Goddess, armed with a trident. More than one thousand comments were posted on her post. Many of the comments came from residents of Bangladesh. While some made fun of the actress, some of the comments seemed dangerous. A comment in Bengali read “You won’t be able to save yourself, your God of earth won’t be able to save you.. After your death you will realise your fault. There won’t be any excuses for you.”

A senior officer at the Kolkata Police headquarters told a leading daily that no official complaint was received till Wednesday evening.

Recently, Nusrat had threatened legal action against a video chatting app that has used her photograph in an advertisement without due permission.
