Irrfan's son Babil Khan opens up on facing discrimination, says, 'miss not giving a f*** about what surname I was born with'

Late actor Irrfan's son Babil Khan is an active user of Instagram. Be it sharing his personal life with fans or making them nostalgic by posting rare pictures with his father, he is known for all the right reasons. Now, in a latest series of posts on his Instagram stories, Babil opened up on facing discrimination based on his religion. On Wednesday, Babil claimed that his friends are now maintaining distance from him and are behaving differently because of his religion.

In the first post of the series, Babil wrote, "Can’t even post anything about how I feel about the people in power without my whole f**king team telling me that it might end my career. I am scared, I am afraid. I don’t want to be. I don’t want to be judged by my religion. I am not my religion, I am a human being, just like the rest of India."

Taking the discussion forward and citing his personal experience, he wrote, "Mandatory holiday for Eid cancelled on Friday while holiday for Raksha Bandhan on Monday still given. Okay then no problem, I'll just celebrate Eid when it's not Eid on Saturday."

Babil then said that his friends with whom he played cricket when he was 12 have stopped communicating because of his religion. Saying that he misses them, Babil added, "I know the whole world is in f***ing frenzy but our beautiful secular India's sudden relapse of the religious divide is honestly getting scary. I have friends that have stopped communicating with me because I'm of a certain religion. Friends I played cricket with when I was 12. I miss my friends. My Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, human friends. I just miss not giving a f*** about what surname I was born with."

He went on to mention that he is expecting comments like 'anti-national' and 'go to Pakistan'. Saying that he loves India and will 'break nose' if anyone calls him anti-national, Babil said, "Our beautiful secular India’s sudden relapse of religious divide is honestly getting scary. I have friends that have stopped communicating with me because I am of a certain religion. I miss my friends; my Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Sikh, human friends…I love India, don’t you dare call me anti-nationalist. I promise you, I am a boxer, I will break your nose."
