This year more than ever we need to appreciate and support them: Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Riteish Deshmukh on Doctor's Day 2020

National Doctor’s Day is celebrated every year to recognize the invaluable work done by the doctors and physicians. The special day honours them for their dedicated service towards society. As a way of acknowledging their efforts, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) observed the first National Doctor’s day in July 1991. Adding to that, amid the coronavirus pandemic, doctors and healthcare workers have been leaving no stone unturned to fight and help the people during the time of crisis. Today, as the world celebrated the 29th Doctor's Day, several celebrities came forward to salute the real-life heroes. 

Salman Khan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Preity Zinta, Tahira Kashyap, Ananya Panday, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia Deshmukh, Shatrughan Sinha and Dhanush posted heartfelt messages for doctors all over the world. 

Salman took to Twitter and wrote: "Aaj #DoctorsDay hai, meri taraf se saare doctors ko dil se shukriya. Aapke dedication, or aapke sacrifices k liye! Thank you for being the strongest pillars of our country in this pandemic!"

Madhuri took to social media to thank Doctors and Healthcare workers. The actress wrote, "This year more than ever we need to appreciate & support our doctors & healthcare workers for their endless hours of hard work, dealing with stress & challenges as part of their job & staying away from their loved ones to serve the people in need. Thank you  #NationalDoctorsDay."

Ananya paid respects to all the doctors in her own authentic way by sharing a picture of her 'Dadaji' and even paying respect to 'Dadi'. She uploaded the pictures with the following caption: "Happy Doctor’s day to my Dadaji, Dadi and all the selfless, superhero doctors out there Thank you for keeping us healthy and safe especially in these tough times Supremely proud to have two doctors as my grandparents ‍"

Preity shared a selfie with a mask and captioned it as, "Actions always speak louder than words. The best way to THANK and appreciate all the doctors and healthcare workers out there is by wearing Masks and keeping yourself and everyone around you safe. Ritesish and Genelia pledged to donate their organs. Sharing a video, Genelia wrote, "@riteishd and me have been thinking about it for a long time but unfortunately didn’t get down to doing it. Today on Doctor’s Day we pledge to donate our organs. We want to thank Dr Nozer Sherier and FOGSI for inspiring us. The greatest gift you can give someone is ‘The gift of life’. .We urge you all to take a part in this initiate and pledge to save lives, pledge to donate your organs." 

Grateful for the medical forces, Tahira posted a beautiful message thanking them. She wrote, " I never knew #doctorsday even existed earlier, but my recent health ordeal has made me value all of them so much! This picture is from the day of my 12th and last chemotherapy session! Can never forget the date. 5 January 2019. The cotton swab on the shoulder blade is of the port. And the nurse in green is holding a box of chocolates that I had shared with them all, expressing my sincere gratitude! big thank you to my doctors especially Dr Mandar Nadkarni. Had this covid situation not been there I would have paid a visit to the doctors and nurses with another box of chocolates who really take care of all of us! Shatrughan Sinha shared, "Doctors are the real warriors, the loved ones.We salute your untiring selfless efforts. You are our hope, joy & are blessed with the power to heal. Happy Doctors Day" 

Dhanush paid his respect as he wrote, "Happy doctors day, On this day I would like to thank and express my gratitude to each and every doctor who are selflessly risking their lives to save lives of millions of people"
