Coronavirus Lockdown: 'PadMan' Akshay Kumar joins hands with an NGO to provide sanitary napkins and kits to female daily wage workers

In the wake of the Coronavirus Pandemic, Akshay Kumar is leaving no stone unturned to do his bit for the society. The large-hearted superstar is spearheading activities for the benefit of frontline workers and daily wage earners. As the ongoing nationwide lockdown is in its fourth phase, Akshay has stepped forward to support a menstrual hygiene campaign to provide sanitary pads and kits to female daily wage workers affected by the current situation. Akshay, who has been actively talking about the importance of menstrual hygiene and the need for proper sanitation facilities for women since his film PadMan released, is working for the cause in association with an NGO called Samarpan.

Akshay, on Twitter, spoke about the initiative and urged people to contribute to help provide women basic sanitation facilities during the lockdown. "A great cause needs your support. Covid doesn’t stop periods, help provide sanitary pads to underprivileged women across Mumbai. Every donation counts," the superstar wrote.

Talking about Samarpan, the organisation has collaborated with the police as well as civil administration to distribute 2.5 million meals and dry rations for a month, 25,000 milk packets and 19,694 sanitation kits in Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, Jodhpur, Anand, Lattur and Ujjain. They have also joined hands with Kunal Kapoor and Varun Sheth’s Ketto.org to raise funds.
