Amid Coronavirus crisis, Amitabh Bachchan distributes food packets, PPE kits and arranges buses for Uttar Pradesh migrants to return home

Ever since the nationwide lockdown was announced in March, Bollywood celebrities are leaving no stone unturned to do their bit for the society. Be it Akshay Kumar contributing a fat amount to relief funds and helping with PPE kits, Sonu Sood assisting migrants to reach home safely or Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and others lending financial help, B-Town is standing united in the time of crisis. Amid this, Amitabh Bachchan has been winning hearts on ground with his philanthropic deeds for the needy. According to a leading daily, the megastar has been actively involved in the distribution of food packets, PPE kits and sending migrants from Uttar Pradesh back home.

As per a source close to the veteran actor, Mr. Bachchan, with the help of the Managing Director of his company, Rajesh Yadav, who is spearheading the work, has been distributing 4500 packets of cooked food daily at a number of locations in Mumbai. The source also told that the actor provided nearly 20,000 PPE kits to hospitals, cops and BMC officers.  "By collaborating with Haji Ali Trust and Pir Makhdum Saheb Trust, Sr Bachchan has been distributing 4500 packets of cooked food on daily basis since March 28 at various locations in Mumbai including Arab Gali, Antop Hill, Worli Lotus, Mahim Dargah, Haji Ali Dargah, Dharavi and Sion to name some,” the source told.

The source further added that a team deployed by Mr. Bachchan is working to provide migrants in transit with food, water and slippers. "A team is also working on grounds to provide the migrant workers leaving from Mumbai with packet food, water bottles and slippers. 1000’s of migrants have got help from the actor’s team,” the source added.

The source stated that 10 buses will be starting from Mumbai to Uttar Pradesh on Thursday under the guidance of Mr. Bachchan and Rajesh. "After coordinating with the authorities, for starters, 10 buses will flag off to UP on Thursday, enabling the migrants to reach their home safely," the source concluded.
