Thank you for helping those in need: Actor-politician Smriti Irani praises Sonu Sood for helping migrant workers reach their homes

Over the last couple of months, headlines like 'Sonu Sood offers his Juhu hotel for healthcare workers', 'Sonu Sood distributes food among the underprivileged', 'Sonu Sood to feed over 25,000 migrants during Ramzan' have been grabbing our attention. Recently, the actor organised buses to transport stranded migrant labourers to their hometowns, after obtaining permissions from the Maharashtra and Karnataka governments. He even went to the bus terminus to oversee their journey.

Post that, he took permission from the Uttar Pradesh Government to send workers back to homes there. On Saturday, multiple buses left from Wadala, Mumbai to various parts of Uttar Pradesh including Lucknow, Hardoi, Pratapgarh and Siddharthnagar as well as to states like Jharkhand and Bihar.

Now Union minister Smriti Irani has praised the actor for helping migrant workers go back home. Tagging the actor on Twitter, sh wrote, "I’ve had the privilege of knowing you as a professional colleague for over 2 decades now @SonuSood and celebrated your rise as an actor ;but the kindness you have displayed in these challenging times makes me prouder still." thereby, thanking him for helping those in need.

Before Smriti, NCP leader and minister in the Government of Maharashtra Jayant Patil had also praised Sonu for his efforts and termed him as an “inspiring hero” in reality.
