Watch: Netizens mistake Rakul Preet Singh for Deepika Padukone, allege the actress was buying alcohol during lockdown

A video of actress Rakul Preet Singh walking out of a general and medical provision store in Bandra’s Pali Hill is going viral for all the wrong reasons. Netizens mistook the actress who is wearing a face mask as Deepika Padukone and alleged that the latter was spotted buying alcohol during the ongoing lockdown. Liquor stores had opened in Mumbai on May 4, 2020, as per the Maharashtra government’s relaxation was later asked to shout down. Several memes and jokes made its way to the social media regarding this relaxation and in the same breath the video of Rakul was mistaken for Deepika buying alcohol.

The video captured by a celebrity photographer’s team shows Rakul coming out of the medical-provision store after shopping. He shared the video with the caption, “The show must go on with safety and precautions. #rakulpreetsingh was snapped yesterday near a medical shop in Bandra. With masks on it is going to be so difficult to identify celebrities. Or will have to develop pap AI for this now #viralbhayani @viralbhayani.” However, the clip has gone viral with a fake caption that reads, “Deepika Padukone buying liquor in Mumbai..... Best example in social distancing..... No servants.........No drivers."

A few netizens identified Rakul correctly but still managed to throw shade at the actress and wonder what she was buying. However, in a tweet, Rakul shut the trolls and clarified that he was out buying medicines.

On the other hand, Deepika is happily quarantining her days with husband Ranveer Singh and sharing regular updates about her daily routine and marital life on Instagram.
