It won't be wrong to say that Ekta Kapoor, with the television series Naagin, has presented not just a successful but highly entertaining folklore tale. While the fantasy drama has entered into its fourth edition this year, its fan following is snowballing week by week. One of the most popular and successful ventures, Naagin, it seems, was to be made as a film. Well, yes. Ekta, in a recent interview, told that for the mythological fantasy, she went on to approach Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Katrina Kaif. She further mentioned that the former had agreed but the latter didn't. Ekta reasoned Katrina's denial as a lack of knowledge of the 'bigness of the folklore'. Calling the two actresses 'great women', Ekta hoped to find a chance to work with them in the future.
"I had just mentioned it. I should have given the context. They did not know how big the folklore in India is. Priyanka had said yes, Katrina did not get the bigness of folklore but both these women are great women. They are women I admire and love. I am hoping to work with both of them in my career," Ekta told.
Ekta, in the same interview, went on to applaud Katrina and Priyanka for the hard work they have put in. "Everyone has this ambition of working with big male stars, even I have the ambition of working with a Priyanka or Katrina because they are such smart women. If come, Katrina did not know Hindi, she has picked up brilliantly, fought being from non-film family, on her own, Priyanka did the same. So yes, they said no to a script but I was giving an example of how we don't understand the power of folklore in India. But both are great," Ekta added.
Naagin 4 on Colors stars Nia Sharma, Vijayendra Kumeria, Rashami Desai and Anita Hassanandani among several others.
