My family was upset, it was kept away from me for the longest time: Shabana Azmi on the disturbing visuals of her fatal car accident

Shabana Azmi, on January 18, 2020, met with a fatal car accident near Khalapur Toll Plaza while returning to Mumbai from Khandala. The actress who was travelling in her Tata Safari car sustained grave injuries after her vehicle was rammed by a truck in a head-on collision. However, her husband noted lyricist Javed Akhtar who was also en route Mumbai with her, escaped the accident as he was travelling in another car with a guest. Now, after two months since the incident, Shabana, in an interview with a leading daily told that she has recovered well and also started shooting for her upcoming film Halo bankrolled by Steven Spielberg.

"I am completely fine and have fully recovered. Currently, I am in Budapest shooting for Halo produced by Steven Spielberg and I am happy to be back on the sets," Shabana told.

Talking further in the same interview, Shabana touched upon the pictures of her accident that went viral. She revealed that her family was upset as they were all over. She also said that those pictures weren't shown to her as her phone wasn't with her during the recovery period. "My family was upset. It was kept away from me for the longest time as I didn’t have my cellphone. When I saw it, I was on my way to recovery. At that moment, I was just really grateful to those who helped me and the hospital staff," Shabana added.

Speaking of the accident, Shabana, while returning to Mumbai on the evening of January 18, met with an accident when her driver, who was driving in the third lane, reportedly took a left turn and rammed into the truck. Shabana, who was seated on the left side, was hit by a hard object, leading to grave injuries, if reports are to be believed. The pictures that did the rounds showcased a damaged left side of the car. An FIR was also filed against her car driver at Khalapur Police Station for rash driving.

Workwise, Shabana will be seen with Swara Bhasker and Divya Dutta in the LGBTQ centric Sheer Qorma.
