A while ago, the buzz surrounding the official Hindi remake of the Tamil action-thriller Kaithi was doing the rounds of Bollywood. With speculations regarding the lead actor making the right amount of noise, avid cinemagoers were excited to watch the suspense decode. From Hrithik Roshan to Salman Khan and many others, rumours kept the hype alive. Now, after much wait, the official announcement about Kaithi's Hindi remake was made on Friday. Along with this, it was confirmed that none other than Ajay Devgn will be stepping into the shoes of Karthi, who played the lead role.
Ajay, on his Twitter account, confirmed signing Kaithi's remake and also announced that the film will release on February 12, 2021. The yet-to-be-titled film will be produced by Ajay's home production-Ajay Devgn Ffilms. "Yes, I’m doing the Hindi remake of the Tamil film Kaithi. Releases on February 12, 2021," Ajay wrote in his tweet.

Kaithi starring Karthi in the lead was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and released in 2019. The film revolved around an ex-convict who makes an attempt to meet his daughter for the first time on coming out of the prison. However, his attempts are obstructed when an Inspector plans a drug raid. Interestingly, the Hindi remake of this actioner will clash will Deepika Padukone's, Siddhant Chaturvedi's and Ananya Panday's Shakun Batra romantic drama. With this, Deepika and Ajay will battle at the box office after Chhapaak and Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior in January this year.
Workwise, Ajay will be seen in Bhuj: The Pride Of India, Maidaan, RRR and will take Chanakya on floors in October this year.
