Akshay Kumar, Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan are collaborating for the first time for Aanand L. Rai's heartland romance titled Atrangi Re. With a stellar cast being roped in for the filmmaker's next after the debacle of Zero, has left fans excited. Now, as the team is gearing up to take the film on floors in the next couple of days, reports of a leading daily informed that Sara will be seen playing a double role. A source close to the film told the daily that the actress, who was recently seen in Love Aaj Kal, will romance Akshay and Dhanush in two different eras for which different tracks will be incorporated. The source further informed that a special look for Akshay is being designed.
"It’s a double role of sorts for Sara, the idea is to showcase diverse sides of the actress. Akshay and Dhanush’s characters too have a special trait that separates them from rest of the cast. Their appearances will be in sync with the way they act and react while a special look is being designed for Akshay,” the source told.
Delving deeper into Atrangi Re, the source revealed that the screenplay will follow a non-linear narrative of two tales of romance set in different eras. "While Atrangi Re is primarily a love story set in the heartland, laced with humour, the storytelling is in a zone the filmmaker has not attempted before. The screenplay follows a non-linear narrative of two romances from different timelines running in the parallel,” the source added.
Atrangi Re will be backed by Bhushan Kumar under his banner T-Series and co-produced by Colour Yellow Productions and Cape Of Good Films. The music will be by A R Rahman and the film will be written by Himanshu Sharma. Atrangi Re is scheduled to go on floors on March 1, 2020 with Sara and Dhanush. Akshay is likely to join the cast in April after fulfilling his prior commitments. The team is said to shoot for 80-90 days across Bihar and Madurai. It will release on Valentine's Day 2021.
