John Abraham to feature as a gangster, cab driver and a doting brother in Rohit Dhawan's Hindi remake of Tamil film 'Vedalam'?

John Abraham is a bona fide superstar. Be it comedy, drama or action, he has proven his mettle as a phenomenal performer time and again, After captivating the audience with an intense act in Batla House in 2019, John is leaving no stone unturned to tell riveting tales via cinema. Now, as he is busy shooting for Mumbai Saga, the handsome hunk has reportedly signed yet another film, apart from Ek Villain 2. Well, yes. According to reports of a leading daily, John will be reuniting with his Dishoom and Desi Boyz director Rohit Dhawan for this directorial next which is said to be the Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster Vedalam. A source close to the development told the daily that the team will head for recce in the next couple of months and will also reunite the superstar with Bhushan Kumar.

“The team will go on recce in a couple of months. The idea is to shoot in real locations to capture the local flavour. A small portion will be canned outside the city as well,” the source told.

The source further added that two actresses will be roped in for the film. One will be the protagonist's sister, which was played by Lakshmi Menon in the original that starred Ajith in the central role and the other of a lawyer, played by Shruti Haasan. The lead actresses are crucial to the narrative and hence the makers are in search of strong performers. “The two actresses are integral to the narrative and the makers are looking to cast strong performers for both parts,” the source added.

Continuing further, the source told that John, for the remake, will be sporting three looks, one of a dreaded gangster, a subdued taxi driver and a doting brother. The source also said that the makers are excited as it is different from their past outings with John, who plays a layered character, leading to a terrific climax. “They are excited about the remake as it’s different from all their previous collaborations. It’s a multi-layered character, with a terrific climax which makes the film interesting,” the source concluded.

John, apart from Mumbai Saga and Ek Villain 2, will be seen in Satyameva Jayate 2 co-starring Divya Khosla Kumar.
