Watch: Taapsee Pannu raises voice against 'expression of love' in the trailer of Anubhav Sinha's hard-hitting 'Thappad'

Anubhav Sinha, after delivering a gut-wrenching and highly important film on caste struggle in the interiors of the country in Ayushmann Khurrana's Article 15, is back with yet another riveting tale. Titled Thappad, the film, as the title itself suggests, orbits around the heinous act of domestic violence against women in the society. Starring Taapsee Pannu, Pavail Gulati, Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah, Tanvi Azmi, Geetika Vidya, Maya Sarao, Naila Grewal and Gracy Goswami in the lead roles, the makers of this thought-provoking film released the much-awaited trailer today(January 31).

The trailer opens to Taapsee filing a petition against her husband for the act of slapping. Soon, we are introduced to the time when everything seemed perfect and rosy. However, at a party, the husband ends up slapping Taapsee, who is indeed shocked. She then sets on a journey to seek justice and respect for herself amidst the statements stating slapping is an 'expression of love'. Thappad gives an insight into the hard-hitting reality of domestic violence in the country and urges that a beti doesn't have to comprise her self-respect and dignity.
