'Sandy Storm' Chirag Patil is a mirror reflection of his father Sandeep Patil in his first look from Kabir Khan's '83

The upcoming sports biopic titled '83 has been the most anticipated film of 2020. Based on the historic win of the Indian cricket team against West Indies in 1983 under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, the project finds itself amidst extreme fanfare much before its release. The film that stars Ranveer Singh as former Indian cricket team captain Kapil Dev has now become the current talk of the town, thanks to its interesting character posters that are being shared on social media platforms each day. After unveiling the looks of Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Jiiva and Tahir Raj Bhasin, the makers dropped in Chirag Patil's character look as his father Sandeep Patil. Ranveer shared it on his Instagram account on Wednesday.

"SANDY STORM!  He’s a Chip off the Old Block!" Ranveer wrote while Chirag captioned the poster by saying, "As a boy I idolized him; now I aspire to be a man like him. How fortunate must I be to portray my superhero on screen. The man who took India to the finals Presenting Mumbai ka Sandstorm, Sandeep Patil!"

In a previous interview with a leading daily, Chirag spoke about stepping into his father's shoe. “The ’83 World Cup win is considered a milestone in Indian history and to be a part of that team is a dream come true and playing my father, who is my hero, is just awesome,” Chirag told.

'83 orbits around the historic victory of the Indian cricket team during the 1983 world cup. The Kabir Khan directorial is being presented by Anil Dhirubhai Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment. '83 also features Ammy Virk and Hardy Sandhu among others. Deepika Padukone stars as Ranveer's onscreen wife, Romi Dev. ‘83 is co-produced by Madhu Mantena, Sajid Nadiadwala and Reliance Entertainment. The film is scheduled to release on April 10, 2020, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
