Deepika Padukone talks about the ongoing CAA protests, says 'proud that people are voicing their opinion'

The nation has been experiencing a crisis on the political front. With cities burning owing to the protests held by students of various educational institutes to condemn the passing of the Citizenship Amendment Act, the country is left divided. Celebrities and other public figures have expressed their opinion on several platforms. Joining the bandwagon is Deepika Padukone. The actress, who was in the Capital to promote her upcoming film Chhapaak, opened up on the matter. The 34-year-old star, during a media interaction, told she feels proud to watch people voicing their opinions on street or from their homes. She further stated that if change is to be brought, it is necessary to put forth every individual's point of view out in the open. 

"It's nice to see people coming out on the streets. I feel proud that people are voicing their opinion whether on the streets or from their homes. If we want to see any change in our life or our society, it is extremely important to keep all points of view on the table," Deepika told.

Along with Deepika, celebrities like Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal and Ayushmann Khurrana placed their viewpoint on social media platforms carefully and addressed the need for peace and denouncing violence. Meanwhile, amidst the ongoing unrest, superstars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have maintained silence on the matter so far.
