‘Street Dancer 3D’ song ‘Illegal Weapon 2.0’ - Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor in an epic dance-off groove to the recreated version of 2018 Punjabi hit

After the revamped Muqabla and the party number Garmi, another peppy song has been dropped by the makers of Varun Dhawan’s and Shraddha Kapoor’s film Street Dancer 3D. The song Illegal Weapon 2.0 is Shraddha’s introductory number in the film and sees an epic dance-off between her and Varun. They whirl, twirl, shake a leg and challenge each other in perfectly choreographed dance moves with their dance troupe.

The song Illegal Weapon is another recreation of a popular 2018 Punjabi hit sung by Jasmine Sandlas and Garry Sandhu. While the original singers have been retained in the new version, singer Tanishk Bagchi has added a new flavour to the song. The lyrics have been penned Priya Saraiya. Apparently, Shraddha and Varun that belong to rival dance groups meet for the first time during the Illegal Weapon 2.0 dance-off.

In an interaction, with a leading daily, director Remo D’Souza revealed how producer Bhushan Kumar came up with the idea of using the 2018 hit number. He said, “We realized it could be a perfect song to introduce Shraddha's character. We have retained the music and hook line, but have changed the lyrics. We have pumped up the groove and added a street mix vibe to the track.”

Street Dancer 3D also stars Nora Fatehi, Aparshakti Khurana, Shakti Mohan, Dharmesh Yelande, Punit Pathak, Raghav Juyal and Prabhudheva and is scheduled to hit the screens on January 24, 2020, clashing with Kangana Ranaut’s Panga.
