Watch: 'Excuse me, yeh mere khud ke paise hai,' says Deepika Padukone on whether husband Ranveer Singh has invested money in 'Chhapaak'

Deepika Padukone and Vikrant Massey starrer Chhapaak has garnered the right amount of curiosity with its heartwarming trailer. Inspired by the story of Laxmi Agarwal who battled all odds and emerged as a winner, Chhapaak is one of the highly anticipated films of 2020. Now, as the film is inching closer to its release, the makers of this inspirational film that talks about a cause, held an event to launch its title song. During the event, as the atmosphere turned emotional, Deepika, in her witty self, lightened up the mood with her hilarious and prompt answer. 

During the song launch event, Vikrant, who is Deepika's love interest and constant support in Chhapaak, was asked about how did Ranveer Singh react to his portrayal of Amol. While asking the question, the reporter stated that being Deepika's husband, Ranveer can too be classified as the producer. Upon hearing this, the 33-year-old actress intervened in a hilarious manner and told that the actor is not associated with Chhapaak and she has invested her own money.

Deepika and Ranveer tied the knot on November 14 and 15, 2018 in Italy with close family members in attendance. They will star with each other, for the first time after marriage, in Kabir Khan's '83 which will release on April 10, 2020. 

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, produced by Fox Star Studios, Deepika’s KA Production, Meghna and Govind Singh Sandhu’s Mriga Films, written by Atika Chohan and Meghna Gulzar, Chhapaak is a tale of an acid attack survivor named Malti who battles against the social evildoers. The film is scheduled to release on January 10, 2020.
