'Anything can happen,' says Rani Mukerji when asked if Saif Ali Khan will be her Bunty in 'Bunty Aur Babli 2'

We at PeepingMoon were the first ones to inform on May 17, 2019, that Shaad Ali's 2005 rom-com Bunty Aur Babli starring Rani Mukerji and Abhishek Bachchan will make a comeback with Gully Boy fame Siddhant Chaturvedi on board. And since then, several media reports are making guesses at who the other actors in the film would be. While Rani was a confirmed name, names like Abhishek Bachchan and R Madhavan also did the rounds. But now, the strongest and latest name is that of Saif Ali Khan. Apparently things have worked out for Saif to step into the role of Bunty and his management team and the abovementioned scheduling conict has been resolved completely. Said is said to begin shooting for the lm alongside his co-stars Rani, Siddhant and debutant Sharvari Wagh in the next few weeks once he has completed the shot for his web show for Amazon Prime Video Tandav.

Now, Rani herself has opened up about the film. In a group interaction with PeepingMoon, while promoting her upcoming film Mardaani 2, Rani was asked if she will be reuniting with Saif for Bunty Aur Babli 2. To this, Rani excitedly said, "Really? Even I didn't know this but of course, if media has heard this then anything can happen. Anyway, it's a saying that media's one ear is always stuck at Yash Raj Films and that's why you guys know what's going on here." Going by the actresses' statement, it looks like she has very smartly termed the piece of news a rumour but at the same time dropped in hints of it being "true".

The film is going to be directed by debutant director Varun V Sharma who has worked on earlier movies of Yash Raj Films like Kill Dill (2014), Sultan (2016) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) in the past and also had written Salman Khan’s Bharat from earlier this year. The shooting of the film started in October in Mumbai.
