After Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Preity Zinta and Vir Das have bagged a project with American TV network ABC. They will guest star in an episode of ABC’s Fresh Off The Boat that is expected to serve as basis for a separate spin-off show. Apparently, the network has been trying to build a spin-off of the show for some time now. Fresh Off The Boat follows the lives of a Taiwanese-American family in Florida in 1990s.
The series revolves around the Huangs, a Taiwanese-American family that includes parents Louis and Jessica and their three children Eddie, Emery and Evan while Louise’s mother Jenny also stays with them. Preity and Vir will feature as an Indian couple whose daughter attends school with Eddie. The upcoming episode will be shot next month. Preity will portray the role of Meena while Vir’s character will be called DC.
According to reports, the new characters will eventually lead up to the spin-off show that is tentatively titled Magic Motor Inn which will centre around an Indian-American family. Rachna Fruchbom is penning the show who frequently writes for Fresh Off The Boat. She will also executive produce the show along with Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar. The spin-off will be produced by 20th Century Fox Television.
Fresh Off The Boat is currently in its sixth season and is a hugely popular show in the US.
