Ranveer Singh’s and Alia Bhatt’s ‘Gully Boy’ wins Best Film from India Award at Asian Academy Creative Awards

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer Gully Boy that is India’s official entry to the 92nd Academy Awards was adjudged the best film from India award in the regional finals at the Asian Academy Creative Awards ceremony. Gully Boy has been directed by Zoya Akhtar and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under their production banner Excel Entertainment.

Farhan took to Twitter to congratulate the entire team of Gully Boy and shared the good news with the world in anticipation of the Oscars. The film is inspired by the lives of Mumbai street rappers Vivian Fernandes aka Divine and Naved Shaikh aka Naezy.

Gully Boy highlights the underground rap movement in India. Besides Ranveer and Alia, the film also featured Siddhant Chaturvedi, Kalki Koechlin and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles.

Apart from Gully Boy, Netflix’s Delhi Crime also won several awards is various categories including Best Actor in a leading role for Shefali Shah and Best Direction and Best Original Screenplay for Richie Mehta. Beverley Mills won Best Editing award and Netflix received the Best Original Programme by a streaming service.
