Tanishaa Mukerji's Life is Short is an official selection & opening film for the second edition of the New Jersey Indian & International Film Festival (NJIIFF) to be held in New Jersey on October 19 and 20. Film's director Vikram Razdan feels honoured that the film has been chosen as an opening film and NJIIFF. Speaking about the subject he said, "Since time immemorial, a common trait in many blessed with more talent, opportunity & wealth, is to often shun & scoff at those less blessed. Based on this tormenting thought, a story surfaced in my mind and Life is Short evolved. In an age of growing intolerance from couples to countries, I felt the need to mirror such realities on screen, as an eye-opener for such short-fused sections in our society",
Life is Short is set on the showbiz backdrop and Tanishaa is quite conversant with the ways of the world of movies and movie stars. So did she draw any real life inspirations from any hyper heroine, to inject into her portrayal of a cold & callous actress, who ill-treats her subordinates? Tanishaa honestly retorts, "This is the first time I have played a dark and delusional character, who plays havoc with those who depend on her. We have always heard sordid stories of many a schizophrenic superstar. I didn’t intentionally try and ape any such character while enacting Debika, but yes for an actor, such R&D always helps."
There is a total entry of 50 films which includes 10 feature-length, 36 short films and four documentary films. NJIIFF director Hemant M. Pandya said, “The ever-growing demand for the good content is the motivation for the new filmmakers to venture into film making. Film Festival NJIIFF is the perfect platform for all such filmmakers to showcase their talent, seek market & supply to right

Vikas Khanna's film The Last Color starring Neena Gupta will be screened at the festival. The film addresses an old age taboo about the widows of Vrindavan and Varanasi. The other attraction is Boney Kapoor's Tamil remake of Pink titled Nerkonda Paarvai will also have a special screening at the festival.
