I wanna thank the panel for choosing 'Gully Boy' as India’s entry for Oscar 2020: Vijay Varma

As Zoya Akhtar’s directorial Gully Boy was announced as India’s official entry to the Oscars 2020, its cast could not contain their excitement. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer had received rave reviews when it was released earlier this year. Vijay Varma who played the role of Moeen in the film expressed his excitement at the achievement.

He said, “I am so thrilled to hear this news! We are all over the moon. I wanna thank the panel for choosing Gully Boy as India's entry for Oscar 2020. The film's theme is so universal. I hope and pray that we get a nomination and eventually, win! Cheers!"

He further added, "Gully Boy changed my life in so many ways. From working and living in oblivion for so many years to now be able to say that my film is INDIA official entry to Oscar is a huge deal for me personally and I can’t thank Zoya enough for this incredible gift called Moeen."

Gully Boy also featured Kalki Koechlin and Siddhant Chaturvedi in lead roles and is inspired by the life of Indian rappers Naezy and Divine.
